The country’s football ruling body has pledged
to put all hands on deck to ensure that Sunday
Oliseh’s men secure a place in the 2017 Afcon
billed for Gabon With few weeks to the all-important Africa Cup
of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt,
the Nigeria Football Federation has promised to
do all it takes to ensure the Super Eagles
outshine the Pharaohs in Kaduna.
Hector Cuper’s side top Group G with six points
from two matches and would be hoping to get
a result at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in a bid to
qualify for Gabon 2017 having missed out of
the last three Afcons. However, the NFF has vowed to back coach
Sunday Oliseh and his men to qualify for the
biennial African showpiece to avoid a repeat of
the 2015 edition blackout.
"Our focus is on the game against Egypt and we
know how important it is to our ambition of
qualifying for the next Afcon in Gabon," Pinnick
told Completesportsnigeria.com. "We know Nigerians are still disappointed with
the performance of the Eagles at the last CHAN
and we cannot afford to miss out on the AFCON
again after our failure to qualify for the last
edition.
"We don't want to put our mind on qualifying
as one of the best losers as that could be costly
at the end of the day. "Egypt are our main rivals in the group and we
must do our best against them to ensure we
qualify for the competition. "On our part, we will make sure we give the
technical crew and the players all the necessary
support to ensure we grab the ticket,” he
concluded.
